Needs, Partnership and Prayer Requests

I. Sponsor a young adult participant

$150/mos. will support a full time resident. This will pay all their expenses for food, education, medical, clothes, transportation, and toiletries.
Short Term Goal: By Dec. 2008 have 50 families committed to $150/mos. This will allow us to house 50 full-time residents. We are currently at 40% of our goal.

II. Sponsor a national staff person or family

$900/mos. will give a national Christian who is a professional in the areas of social work, psychology, education, or pastor a chance to use their skills in ministry. They have a tremendous desire to do this, but most can’t afford to feed their families on such salaries. They are forced to go into the market place and mission work is relegated to foreigners at 5-6 times the amount of money and less effectiveness.
Short Term Goal: By Jan. 2009 have all 12 clinical staff fully funded by 12 churches, home groups, foundations, or individuals. This would allow us to serve 40 full-time residents.

III. Professional Training Center

$42,820 will allow us to supply five venues, pay teachers, and train 50 young adult orphans in professions this first year. The five initial professions we are teaching are; beautician, carpentry, ceramics, sewing & upholstery, and computer programming. We have the 50 young adults who are ready.

IV. Open an Affiliate Program

Rent for two apartments in Zheleznogorsk $800/mos.
Salaries for five staff @ $300/staff = $1500/mos.
Expenses for 10 residents @ $75/mos. = $750/mos.
Total: $3050/mos. or $36,600

$13,400 for training, transportation, housing, food of 5 staff in St. Petersburg

Grand Total: $50,000 will allow us to train 5 new national leaders, open a whole new program and serve 10 full time residents in the first year

V. Add one more residential facility to the current Harbor

$5400/mos. will allow us to open a third residential facility. This would enable us to house 8 more full-time participants and give 3 more national Christian professional families full-time employment in ministry.
Rent:   $1500/mos.
Salaries:   $2700/mos.
Expenses for 8 residents@150/each:   $1200/mos.
Goal: To open the third residential facility the summer of 2009.

VI. Endowment Fund

To purchase 8 more permanent facilities. One is purchased.
Short Term Goal: By Jan. 2009 endow $250,000 for the purchase of one more facility.
Long Term Goal: Purchase of 9 permanent facilities by 2015 will enable us to house 64 full time residents, train hundreds of other children-at-risk in professions, and hundreds of leaders for new programs.

Items for Prayer

  • Pray for three participants that were disqualified from the Harbor. Pray that they would return to the program renewed, refreshed, passionate, and committed to change and become independent and productive citizens.
  • Pray for four participants’ entrance exams in July.
  • Pray for the staff’s energy, strength, patience and wisdom to train, lead and guide the Harbor participants. Pray for the participants’ willingness to learn and be open to Christianity and changes.
  • Pray for graduates’ spiritual growth and continuous exceptional performance in life, apartment and colleges/universities and stable employment.
  • Pray that the Lord would open doors and hearts of orphanages and orphans who will become full-time participants next school year. Pray that the Harbor would find new staff by the end of this August.
  • Pray that the Harbor would succeed in this business project. Pray for Nastia, our graduate who has high potential to become the head of this business and teach our participants in the future.
  • November 1, 2006: Please pray for the government audit and re-registration of the Harbor as a non profit and non governmental organization. The audit can happen within one year; thus we will have to pray for one year. The paper work is complete so now it is a matter of passing the audit and inspection, in order for the Harbor to continue its work as a Christian residential program for young adult orphans.
